Renewal of belt thickener with wastewater recirculation to increase filtrate quality

The Wallmenroth / Muhlau wastewater treatment plant treats all the wastewater of the Abwasserzweckverband Betzdorf-Kirchen-Daaden as well as the leachate from the Nauroth landfill. After almost 40 years of operation of the two KLEIN screening drums, the mechanical sludge thickening system was replaced by a solidXdrain belt thickener. The old KLEIN belt filter press was also replaced by a modern screw press of the type solidXscrew after almost 40 years of operation. The installation of the two new plants was combined so that the complete sludge treatment is centrally and compactly located in one room. Sludge treatment was converted to 24 h operation for both machines.

For the conversion of the sludge dewatering, an identical mobile screw press was provided for transitional dewatering.
